The Statute of the Institute, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine of 27.09.2021 №2065, empowers the Institute to carry out forensic psychiatric examinations. The implementation of these powers is also entrusted to the forensic psychiatric examination branches.

Main Functions of the Forensic Examination Unit:

• to carry out forensic psychiatric, forensic psychological, comprehensive forensic examinations, examinations in criminal proceedings, administrative cases, civil cases, commercial cases, as well as cases on administrative offenses;
• to ensure the participation of forensic psychiatric experts, psychologists, and forensic experts, in the role of specialists, in the pre-trial investigation and court trial in accordance with the law.
