The Institute will focus on forensic psychiatry issues after its renaming

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine transfers the drug monitoring function from the state institution “Institute of Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatric Examination and Drug Monitoring of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” to the state institution “Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”.

The name of the state institution “Institute of Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatric Examination and Drug Monitoring of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” is changed to the state institution “Institute of Forensic Psychiatry of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” and a new version of the Institute’s charter is approved by the Order of the Ministry of Health № 1601 of 08 September 2023.

According to the new version of the Institute’s charter, the purpose of its activities is as follows

• conducting scientific, scientific-pedagogical and practical activities in the field of forensic psychiatric and forensic psychological examination, application of compulsory medical measures;
• scientific, methodological, organizational and administrative support of experts’ work on forensic psychiatric and forensic psychological issues;
• conducting forensic psychiatric, forensic psychological, and complex forensic examinations;
• providing psychiatric care to persons with mental disorders through the use of compulsory medical measures;
• providing rehabilitation assistance in the application of compulsory medical measures;
• providing social services to persons with mental disorders subject to compulsory medical measures;
• monitoring of human rights observance in the application of compulsory medical measures.
