Scientific Research Activities

The scientific research activities of the Institute provide for carrying out scientific, scientific-pedagogical and practical activities in the field of forensic psychiatric and forensic psychological examination, scientific-methodological, organizational and managerial support of forensic psychiatric and forensic psychological expert activities. The scientific-oriented work is closely linked with other key activities of the Institute, namely, educational activities and forensic expertise.

Main scientific research areas:

  • research and development of highly effective medical technologies, methods of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of mental disorders
  • research and development on the problems of etiology and pathogenesis of mental disorders, their biological, social factors, and effects
  • clinical and epidemiological studies of the prevalence of mental disorders
  • development and implementation of comprehensive interventions and programs for the prevention and treatment of mental and behavioral disorders, which have the greatest negative sociodemographic impact and severe economic effects
  • study and scientific proof of risk assessment of mental health worsening, setting up and optimizing the risk management system
  • conducting scientific expertise and ensuring scientific proof of priority areas of science development, research programs and projects, determination of research activities, analysis and assessment of the efficiency of scientific potential and research results
